PROVENANCE: Herbert Patrick (1936-2018) Atlanta, Georgia.He attended Boys Central high school, which he played center for the 1952 Central High School State A champions football team.Herb started his career in the appliance business and was employed with his uncle Tom Kirby appliance until 1971, then he opened his own business Herberts appliances. Potted in shallow vessel form, thick and large, slight deep, with broad wide central interior, rounded cavetto gently tapering to open wide, with straight open lip, raised with round shallow draft, slight concave base. The exterior hand painted ornamentations are rendered in clean white under glazed base color which contrast against doucai design color, is outlined in under glaze blue and filled in with over glaze colored enamels except blue colors which fit together but also contrasting or joined colors. Depicted of flowers blooms interspersed with fresh green foliage. The clay is very fine, with a brilliant glaze finish that was applied by a meticulous, the shape is uniformly proportioned. Mark on base, six underglazed blue script characters reign mark, Made In The Years JiaJing Reign Period of Great Ming Dynasty.
