Tea leaves from the Boston Tea Party, 1773. From the collection of the American Antiquarian Society. Double sided card inside bottle states provenance, reading: "Tea gathered on the shore of Dorchester Neck the morning after the destruction of the three cargoes, December 17th 1773. From Thaddeus Mason Harris". Backside of the card reads "Rec'd from the American Antiquarian Society March 1895. J. W. Putnam. Part of a lot in a store jar found at Ant. Soc. among other things." Thaddeus Mason Harris was a founding member of the Massachusetts based American Antiquarian Society. This jar came was amongst other historical Putnam family items, also included in this auction. Bottle measures 3.25in high.
