American Colonial Silver Bowl. William Hollingshead, Philadelphia, Circa 1775. Circular Bowl on Circular Pedestal Foot with elevated gadrooned lip and cahsed gadrooning on foot. Engraved contemporary script cypher "MTCF" on Front of Bowl. Maker's Mark "WH" struck inside bowl four times. Weighs approx. 9 troy oz. Measures approx. 3.125"h on 5.75" diameter Base. Provenance: Directly from consigner. Her husband was a doctor on The Main Line, Wayne, Pennsylvania. He predominantly collected Philadelphia silver, London silver and other objects of considerable interest including fine art, period furniture, Oriental rugs and fine reproductions in the manner of Williamsburg Virginia furnishings by kittinger and Baker.
