DESCRIPTION: (2 Pc) A Pair of antique huaso carved stirrups. This is a matching pair of intricately carved wooden stirrups with metal, floral decorated mounts and leather straps with metal buckles. The Huasos in Chile are similar to the Gauchos of Argentina and the Llanos of Venezuela, but the Huaso are farmers as well as cattle herders. Their stirrups are distinct from those of the Argentinian Gauchos who often rode barefoot with simple round wooden stirrups. The Huasos are generally found in Chile's central valley and have today become an important part of the fiestas and parades that take place in the folkloric culture of the country.
