Description
A Chinese yellow-ground enameled metal box dating from the early 19th century. The round box features a pink interior and a white bottom. The exterior is decorated with floral tracery and auspicious characters, including a Shou medallion and five bats on the top of the lid.
Dimensions are: 5 1/4 inches tall X 9 inches wide, 13.3 cm X 22.9 cm. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: The bottom of the box has numerous star cracks, and the interior of the lower portion of the box has several cracks as well. There are small areas of cracking throughout the exterior of the box, especially around the characters. There are several areas of overpainting throughout the interior and exterior of the box.
Provenance: From an estate in Los Angeles, California.
