Biography: Anatoly Metlan was born in 1964 in the Ukraine near the Black Sea. As a child, he amused himself with the “paintbrush” and the “paint” which he took from his parents, both of whom experimented with art. As he learned about art, he was particularly attracted towards the impressionists and their use of color, space and texture. He spent many years perfecting his personal style but his initial regard towards the impressionists always remained with him.
After graduating the local ‘High School of the Arts’ in 1985, he was admitted to the “Krivoi Rog” University, south of Ukraine. During his university years, he exhibited extensively and gradually became a distinguished artist until in 1989 he was accepted to the Artists Guild of Ukraine. In 1991 Metlan and his family decided to immigrate to Israel. Metlan has exhibited in one-man shows and group exhibitions worldwide. His works may also be found in private collections, and enjoy overwhelming recognition.
