This lot consists of a unframed gouache illustration on paper, done in the Post-Impressionist style of Paul Gauguin (French, 1849-1903). Image depicts a vibrant still life portrait that is steeped in imaginative color, as is much of Gauguin's work. A hand-painted inscription at lower right corner reads, "P. Gauguin". Overall framed measurements approximately 11.25" x 8".

Paul Gauguin (French, 1849-1903) is recognized today for his influence on the French avant-garde, specifically with his groundbreaking use of color. Gauguin's visits to the Caribbean island of Martinique were formative to the artist.
