Mai Thu (Vietnamese-French, 1906-1980) was a painter and a graduate of the first entering class of the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de l'Indochine in Hanoi, Vietnam. Thu spent a majority of his life living and working in France, portraying women, children, and scenes of daily life to which viewers have been relating for the better part of a century now.
