This lot consists of a framed oil painting on board, done in the landscape style of Edgar Alwin Payne (American, 1883-1947). Image depicts a small, scenic port. Sailboats' glimmering reflections fill the smooth water with summery color. A hand-painted inscription at lower right corner reads, "Edgar Payne". This framed piece measures approximately 18.5" x 26".

Edgar Alwin Payne (American, 1883-1947) was born in the heart of the Ozark Mountains and began his art career as a muralist. He made his way to California in 1909, and then to Chicago, Illinois. Payne enjoyed many major career breakthroughs, including an exhibit at the Art Institute of Chicago and a commissioned art project for the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railroad. Payne's work now belongs to the collections of illustrious museums such as the National Collection of Fine Arts, the National Academy of Design, the Indianapolis Museum of Fine Art, the Chicago Art Museum, and many more.
