Antique African Carved Ivory Male Figure - a detailed, intricately carved waist-length royal king/chief or priestly figure ornately dressed in royal/elite attire: necklaces, neck/collar rings, breastplate, bracelets, and ornate headdress; each beaded and adorned with cowrie shells and gems; holding a scepter in left hand and staff in the right hand | Approx. Size: 8.75" H x 4" W x 3.5" D; Weight: 3.2 lbs.
Condition
To the best of our knowledge and belief, the sale of this item complies with the requirements of ESA §4(d), including that it was imported prior to 1990 and meets the ESA antiques exemption. This item was part of the Estate of Dr. Ora Eads, Phd, Nashville, Tennessee. The Ead's Ethnographic Art Collection included over 250 items of rare African Art, some of which were donated to Tennessee Tech University for a museum, and other pieces were made part of the Eads Museum (which was later absorbed into the Tennessee University museum network).
