2nd century AD. A bronze zoomorphic plate brooch formed as a horse standing left on a ground line, grazing; detailing to the ear, mane and legs; pin lug, pin and catchplate to reverse. Cf. Hattatt, R., Brooches of Antiquity, Oxford, 1987, item 1186, for type. 9.69 grams, 34mm (1 1/4"). From the collection of a Surrey, UK, gentleman; acquired in the 1990s. [No Reserve]
