John Speed (British, 1552-1629) "The Countye Palatine of Chester with that Most Ancient Citie Described," engraved map on paper, 17th century, richly hand-colored, the image detailed with figures, sea monsters, coats of arms, cherubs, and along the left edge "The Armes of the Earles of Chester...," framed with English text verso visible. Image: 16.25" H x 21.25" W; frame: 18.25" H x 23.5" W x 0.75" D.
