1862 Drake's Plantation Bitters encased postage stamp. Round brass case containing a one cent U.S. postage stamp used as legal tendered currency during the coinage shortage at the beginning of the civil war. Case has patent date of August 12, 1862 which was awarded to J. Gault of New York.
