Description

A MEIJI PERIOD (1868-1912) PORCELAIN IMARI PLATE

circular form, centered a blooming flower, the cavetto featuring alternating cartouches featuring garden scenes and naturalistic scenes accented with gilt; diameter: 61 cm (24 in.)

CONDITION
The plate appears in age-appropriate condition. With scattered firing imperfections, most visible against the white ground. A minor chip to one of the naturalistic scenes. Chipping to the rim of the plate, resulting in scattered losses. Inspection under UV shows fluorescence but no apparent sign of restoration.
