Venetian Walnut Settee

18th century, the domed and padded back within a molded frame, joined by exaggerated outswept padded arms to the cushioned seat, raised on molded cabriole legs ending in scrolled toes.

In very good refinished and restored condition. The piece is solid, stable and sturdy with no movement observed in the arms, back or legs. The piece exhibits dings, abrasions, repairs and blemishes throughout, most all of which are under the current finish and create an attractive patina. There has been a medial vertical brace, in walnut, added to the back. There is also a tight, professional splice in the center of the front seat rail. Both middle legs appear to be later additions. The upholstery exhibits some wear, but is in generally good usable condition. There are no obvious stains. Such wear as there is to the fabric is difficult to detect due to the mottled, distressed nature of the print.
