AN EMPIRE GILT LACQUERED BURL WALNUT SETTEE, POSSIBLY RUSSIAN/BALTIC STATES, FIRST HALF 19TH CENTURY, the crest centers a tablet with gilt metal mount of two winged putti riding dolphins, one holding a caduceus the other fin-winged putti upholds a coral branch and charges before an ancient Bireme war ship in choppy waters flanked by addorsed swans, painted with black lacquer and relief gilt highlights, over a serpentine upholstered back and rectangular bench seat within outwardly curled arms issued from a wide skirt with lacquered cockbeading centering a gilt metal mounted wreath flanked by anthemion sprays with a central "Rod of Asclepius," raised on palm frond entwined, banded, scrolling gilt relief bracket feet, upholstered in vintage gold painted pinstripe pistachio green velvet with complementing double brocade pipe trim.
