American Neo-Grec Rosewood, Gilt-Incised and Porcelain-Mounted Sofa
ca. 1871, based on the stamped production number 28892, attributed to Pottier & Stymus, New York, the back of tripartite form, with double chairbacks centered by a low upholstered back with a porcelain plaque decorated in the Renaissance Revival taste, the plaque surmounted by bow- and laurel-carved swags, with Greek-key incising below, the closed arms on supports extending to join a serpentine seat rail.
