Description
ZORAN ANTONIO MUSIC (SLOVENE-ITALIAN, 1909-2005)
Motivo Dalmata (Dalmatian Motif)
Oil on canvas, signed and dated 1950 lower portion, titled to verso. A herd of colorfully spotted traversing horses. Provenance: The Weber Family, privately purchased in Milan, ItalyBy descent, Mr. Roger Weber, Paris (2014) 23" height, 29" width
Condition
The plain weave canvas in good structural condition with minor imperfections to perimeter. Canvas is taut to stretcher with original metal tacks used at creation, and displays markings to canvas verso. The lower left quadrant has slight trampolining from the canvas shifting slightly from intended plane, plausibly due to humidity and time.
UV fluorescence testing indicates NO apparent repairs or overpaint (in-painting). The paint surface has light dust and grime suitable for age / time period of creation. In lower right quadrant, and at center, there is noted mild “craquelure”. The paint/ground/canvas layers are generally very secure. Observation would yield that the painting is in completely original condition as the artist intended.
