Frame: 34" x 38 1/2".---------------------Davids notes: this came out of a storage unit in the NYC area, then sold to the gallery along with other paintings.I don't know what to say other than it is a work by a good artist, it is signed lower left, possibly the name Kyle and the date 91 for 1991.There are influences here, Chuck Close, Lucien Freud, and especially Sir Stanley Spencer, all the postwar artists and mostly the British ones that capture that photorealistic head on portrait of individuals,exposing their soul in a bare no apologies manner.Here the subject is blank and expressionlist, but unperturbed by her appearance which is startling.She is beautiful and mysterious, at the same time that she is complacent and assured.The artist doesn't comment so much on her personality as he lays it bare for the viewer to draw their own conclusion.Probably a work that sold in a London gallery 30 years ago, and the labels were lost or fell off over time.
