Beautiful Minatogawa sword Katana in Shirasaya.
Made by the famous Japanese swordsmith Gassan Sadakatsu.
Signature Osaka Ju Gassan Minamoto Sadakatsu Kinsaku
Taisho 11 Nen 3 Gatsu kichimatsu.
The blade is polished.
Blade 72.4 cm / Weight blade only 810 g
Showa pyiode (1942)
The blade has a normal width, thickness with a deep sori
Bonji and Render are engraved on the front and Bo-hi and Juken are engraved on the back.
Jigane: Masame had a good graied with jinie attach and chikei work
Hamon: Chiji-midare with deep nioikuchi with ash work
Bo-shi: Notare and round shape returns.
Gassan Sadakatsu was born the second son
from the first Gassan Sadakazu in 1869. Sadakatsu was a representative swordsmith from Taisho until the early Showa period.
He was a great swordsmith for making all kinds of Soshu-den, Bizen-den and Yamato-den.
His distinctive Ayasugi-hada in particular inherits the tradition that has been carried on
from the Kamakura period still lives on in gendai swordsmiths. Under his famous father Sadakazu the first,
Sadakatsu forged only a few swords inscribed his swordsmith name until SadakazuÂ’s death
in the late Taisho era Sadakatsu put all his energy into making his own sword.
