North America, Montana, Hells Creek Formation, late Cretaceous period, ca. 70 to 65.5 million years ago. A fabulous example of a leg bone from the Edmontosaurus (Edmontosaurus annectens) that is stabilized in a white plaster cast. The sizable bone is comprised of hundreds of fragmentary shards that were partially reassembled before having plaster poured over to maintain its overall form. Edmontosaurus were a species of duck billed dinosaur and their name means the "lizard of Edmonton" after the capital city of the province where they were first unearthed. The impressive size of this bone exemplifies the huge body of Edmontosaurus, who could be nearly 50 feet long and weigh over 9 tons. Size: 23.25" L x 7" W (59.1 cm x 17.8 cm)

Condition
Bone was found as-is in hundreds of small pieces before being stabilized with modern plaster. Chipping and age-commensurate ossification to some areas, with brittle and coarse texture as a result of fossilization. Great preservation to overall form.
