Northern Europe, England, ca. 15th to 17th century CE. A finely cast pewter wrythen knop table-spoon. The bowl of the spoon is a wide fig shape with a makerÂ’s mark stamped below the neck. The handle is hexagonal and surmounted by a ribbed and twisted knob - the wrythen knop. Wrythen knop comes from the Anglo-Saxon words for twisted and knob. A very attractive utensil with a form that was popular through the 15th and 17th centuries. Size: 5.5" L x 1.56" W (14 cm x 4 cm)

Condition
Age and use commensurate surface wear and slight indentations. Bottom periphery of bowl has small nick and imperfection from casting. Nice patina with maker's mark stamped on bowl.
