Jade Gu-Form Chinese VaseÂ
Chinese, probably Ming Period (1568-1644). A white jade vase in slight celadon tone with russet highlights, gu-form vase, having a key fret border at the mouth and lip, with an elaborate high relief and openwork carving around the body of the vase depicting a dragon chasing a pearl, surrounded by other mythical beasts, including a phoenix and chilong, amidst densely packed foliage and clouds, on a wooden stand, unmarked; ht. 10 in., (25.5 cm) (without stand).
EXHIBITION HISTORY
Formerly exhibited in the Indianapolis Museum of Art's Three Dynasties of Jade (April 27-May 30, 1971).

Condition
Two large hairline cracks beginning at the foot of the base. Smaller hairlines throughout. Repairs to stand.
