Yellow Jade Gu-Form Chinese Vases
Chinese, early 19th century. A pair of Mughal-style pale mottled yellow jade archaistic gu-form vases. Each has intricate floral scrollwork at the rim and foot; both bodies have eight floral-carved "handles" (four upper, four lower) supporting loose rings. The bulbous central sections have archaistic designs against a densely packed floral background. Each on a wooden stand; both unmarked; ht. 9.25 in. (23.5 cm) (without stand).
Provenance: Purchased 7/30/1971 from Marshall Galleries, Cleveland, OH.
