Description
Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, 26th to 31st Dynasty, ca. 664 to 332 BCE. A cast leaded-bronze figure depicting Osiris, the primary deity of ancient Egypt and god of the underworld. The figure presents with a slender waist and lower body while holding both hands tightly against his chest, the left grasping his signature heka scepter. His portly face exhibits recessed almond-shaped eyes and slender brows that were perhaps inlaid with silver or precious stones at one time, a perky nose, full lips, cupped ears, and a false beard, all beneath an Atef crown with a frontal uraeus cobra. Covered in thick layers of russet, brown, and green patina, this is a fine example of Egyptian figural artistry! Size: 2.25" W x 5.3" H (5.7 cm x 13.5 cm); 7.4" H (18.8 cm) on included custom stand.
