Antique Sir William Forbes Porcelain Cameo Portrait, inscriptions partially illegible, reads ‘Sir Wm Forbes of Pitsligo Henning’, date reads ‘1802’, subject a man in profile, measures 6 1/8 x 5 1/4 inches, black wooden frame, surface wear to frame, not examined out of frame, John Henning was a Scottish carpenter who turned to sculpturing. His masterpieces were the one-twentieth-scale models he created of the Parthenon and Bassae friezes. These took him twelve years to complete.
