Description
Tiffany & Co. (American), marks for c. 1854-1870. Sterling silver "Mooresque" double handled waste bowl, having an unadorned body, scrolled monogram, and parcel gilt pierced scrolled handles with chased decoration. Appropriately marked to the underside for Tiffany & Co. and John C. Moore, along with "1770" and "4301". Note: A similar tea service was by designed in 1866-1867 by Edward C. Moore for the Exposition Universelle, Paris. It is now housed in the Collection of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
