Pre-Columbian, Mexico, Guerrero region, Mezcala culture, ca. 500 to 200 BCE. Two pristine string-cut stone idols, both hand-carved from mottled sage green stone with light inclusions. Though different in size, both figures are identical in color, form, and overall appearance. Almond shaped eyes are split by triangular noses which slightly suspend over slit-form mouths. The figurine's broad, squared, shoulders lead the viewer down to a set of hands which meet at the mid-section perhaps in preparation for prayer or an offering. Two shallow drill holes are visible on the back traditionally used for suspension. An excellent find! Size of largest: 0.5" W x 1.5" H (1.3 cm x 3.8 cm)
