Description
Ancient Seas, Middle Miocene to end of Pliocene eras, ca. 28 to 1.5 million years ago. A fine collection of three fossilized teeth from the prehistoric megalodon shark! The first two are polished to a glassy surface to reveal the colorful layers of enamel. The larger is a lustrous black hue with gray areas along the peripheries. The smaller polished tooth has an umber brown enamel with a matte root. The third tooth is unpolished with a naturally reflective enamel from the fossilization process. The edges of this tooth still retain some of the serrations. The various hues present in these teeth are a result of the minerals present in the water and sediment as the teeth aged. These specimens are a startling reminder of the real "Jaws" that once existed in the ocean! Size of black polished: 3.875" L x 3.125" W (9.8 cm x 7.9 cm); 3.8" H (9.7 cm) on included custom stand; small polished: 3.5" L x 2.675" W (8.9 cm x 6.8 cm); 3.5" H (8.9 cm) on included custom stand; unpolished: 3.7" L x 2.675" W (9.4 cm x 6.8 cm); 3.5" H (8.9 cm) on included custom stand.
