Ribobert Bonne (French, 1727-1794). "Le Nouveau Mexique, Avec La Partie Septentrionale De L'Ancien, ou De La Nouvelle Espagne" Published in Paris, 1780. Among the most collected late 18th century maps of the region, a wonderful, hand-colored map of Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico with settlements and missions included in Texas, a rendering of Baja California that is somewhat inaccurate but was customary for most French maps of the period, strong details all along the Gulf Coast of Florida, and mentions of Native American tribes. Rigobert Bonne was an important cartographer who set new trends in the field during the late 18th century. Moving away from the more elaborate renderings of the 17th century, his maps were more direct and less lavishly adorned. This new aesthetic and Bonne's emphasis on detail and precision would set a new direction in the history of cartography.

Map is set in custom frame under glass. Map has not been examined outside the framing but appears to be in very good condition. Frame shows minor scuffs/nicks and a few stains to the matte. It is wired for suspension and ready to display.
