Description
Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE; Mexico or Central America, Maya, Late Classic Period, ca. 550 to 900 CE; Central America, Costa Rica, Nicoya, ca. 200 BCE to 500 CE. This piece exhibits bifacial knapping and light mineral deposits, a rare and very fine example! The third stone is a Maya eccentric flint made of a cool gray-white chert with prominent notched sides. This knapped eccentric is a ceremonial item of a highly abstract from to represent a zoomorphic creature. This example looks much like an insect or a centipede! Each stone is mounted and framed to display.
