Description
Ancient Near East, Achaemenid Persian Empire, ca. 550 to 330 BCE. A hand-carved seal bead made from a smokey chalcedony stone with a white matrix and a zoomorphic motif. The bead has a flat, ovoid face and a domed body pierced through for suspension. The face is incised with two ibexes rearing on hind legs and facing each other, flanking a tree of life. A crescent shape is above the tree, a fish is to the left, and a rhombus shape is the right of the ibex. Custom clay impression of the stamp included. Size: .875" L x .75" Diameter (2.2 cm x 1.9 cm); 2.5" H (6.4 cm) on included custom stand.
