oil on board, signed at lower right, presented under glass in the likely original gilt frame.
Frame dimensions 15 3/4 x 17 in.
Thomas Campbell was born in England and immigrated to the United States at the age of nineteen. He was an ordained Presbyterian minister and served as a missionary with American Indians in North Dakota and Minnesota. Campbell moved to Tennessee in the 1890s, eventually founding the art department at Maryville College in Knoxville.
