COWDEN / HARRISBURG", PENNSYLVANIA DECORATED STONEWARE BATTER JUG, salt-glazed, approximately one-gallon capacity, semi-ovoid form with incised shoulder ring, open-loop handle supports, protruding spout, and applied arched handle at reverse base, Albany-slip glazed interior. Stenciled cobalt decorative ornament below stamp. Original wire and wooden bail handle, and tin cover. 1881-1888. 8 1/2" H rim.
Undamaged. Cover lacking ring.
Provenance: The collection of Lynne and the late Philip Blaker of Austin, TX.
