Description
A rare carved wooden Kumu mask with pedestal like form which suggests this may have served as a type of altar fetish or shrine object. Kumu peoples, Congo / DRC , central Africa. Provenance: Field collected by Rev. Lawson Mooney in the Congo, then sold to Dr. Ken Adelman, former Director of USAID Zaire, prior to 1975. Carved wood. Size: 13.5'' x 8'' x 4'' (34 x 20 x 10 cm).
