Following a chance encounter with Diana Ross in 1965 that appeared on the cover of England's weekly music magazine Melody Maker, Barrie Wentzell became exclusive chief photographer of the influential publication, a position he held from 1965 to 1975. During his tenure, Wentzell photographed several generations of musical greats, from Louis Armstrong, Count Basie, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Little Richard to Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, The Kinks, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and countless more.
