Item Details
Description
William Joseph "Bill" Freeman (American, 1927-2012). Oil on canvas, ca. mid 20th century CE. A picturesque landscape painting by American artist Bill Freeman. Freeman presents us with an optimal view of this awe-inspiring sunlit mountain range from the grasses and dry brush of the land below. The sun presents as a glowing orb radiating light over the peachy pink mountainsides, while a dramatic shadow line announces itself midway down the peaks. Freeman's painting possesses an almost ethereal quality thanks to his dreamy palette of lavender, sky blue, peachy pink, mauve, sage, forest green, lemon yellow, and slate blue as well as a style that demonstrates influences of Impressionism and Expressionism achieved via a sophisticated use of palette knife and brush. The painting is set in a custom frame that is embellished not only with golden mouldings but also with rosy tones that beautifully complement the composition. Size: 21.7" L x 27.625" W (55.1 cm x 70.2 cm) Size of frame: 31.125" L x 37" W (79.1 cm x 94 cm)

Bill Freeman grew up in West Texas on a farm just outside of El Paso. Interestingly, he worked as a horse wrangler, fought forest fires for the U.S. Forest Service, and was a field researcher and guide for the Arizona Game and Fish Department for twelve years in Arizona, Wyoming, and New Mexico prior to becoming an artist. It was not until the age of 30 that Freeman decided to become an artist specializing in Western landscapes. Today he is considered a pioneer of Western art centered on such storied locales as Scottsdale, Arizona as well as Jackson Hole and Grand Tetons National Park, Wyoming.
