Description
Thailand, Ban Chiang, ca. 300 to 100 BCE. An attractive and well preserved grey-ware pottery vessel presenting a concave, annular base, a conical body, and a dramatically flared rim. The body of the ancient dish is adorned with an intricately incised geometric pattern and textile-pressed design comprised of two horizontal registers above a spiraling, abstract motif. A remarkable example, quite striking for its form and painted decorative program. Size: 8.375" in diameter x 7.875" H (21.3 cm x 20 cm)
