A porcelain snuff bottle with a detailed four-claw dragon pursuing the pearl of wisdom in stylized clouds. There is a stylized jewel dot painting on the neck. The molded porcelain snuff bottle has a flattened moon flask shape with a short neck. The glaze is slightly off-white and the cobalt is a nice dark blue. The raised foot is unglazed with a glazed base. The stopper is a nice green hardstone with white inclusions and darker green spotting. The bottle has a nice heft to it. MEASUREMENTS 2 5/8” tall x 2 3/8” wide x 1 1/8” deep. Weighs 2.0 oz (55 g) CONDITION The foot ring is chipped. Otherwise there are no cracks or chips. There are a few blue spots, black spots and pin hole reserves from manufacture. There is wear and scratches from use and age, but the enamels are still bright. The dragon has that 19th century intricate and well painted design. I love the fine painting of the hair and face of the dragon.
