A grouping of 6 hand colored 18th century botanical prints on laid paper, all framed and matted with German art framer's label on reverse (see photos). The following information from ZVAB.com regarding Plate 378 which is described below and included in this lot of 6, all from the same source: "Description: This extremely rare original old antique print / engraving originates from a collection of unbound engravings, and original drawings. Although this print was not bound in a book, it is part of 'Botanica Pharmaceutica: exhibens plantas officinales quarum nomina in dispensatoriis recensentur; cum iconibus ab auctore aere incisis, et vivo colore expressis .' - Berolini, 1788. Botanica Pharmaceutica was published in Berlin between 1785-1806. It consisted of 6 volumes with a total of 598 botanical plates. This extremely rare work focuses on plants with medicinal properties.". Included in this lot are the following plates: 1) Plate 378: Cicuta virosa - Cowbane or Northern Water Hemlock; 2) Plate 181. Trifolium arvense - Hare's Foot Clover; 3) Plate 338. Vitis Corinthiaca - Current Vine; 4) Plate 347. Cuminum Cyminum - Cumin seeds (parsley family); 5) 321. Origanum Dictamnus - Cretan dittany or hop marjoram; 6) Plate 339. Rhamnus catharticus - purging buckthorn. All are matted with some darkening of paper, all are sealed in the back and have not been examined out of frame but guaranteed authentic from the series described above.
