Description
Yomut ensi, Turkmenistan, mid 19th century. This richly dyed door covering for the Yomut yurt shows typical quadripartite divisions of the field. There is an attractive "curled-leaf" main border meander and at the bottom is an internal elem and a main elem, both displaying rows of trees with serrated leaves attached. Size: 4'3'' x 5'9'' (130 x 175 cm). Weight: 9 lbs. Material: wool pile, wool warp, wool weft.
