Description

possibly Ming/early Qing dynasty, two pear form stoneware vases with flared lips, dark brown/black glaze, 6-1/2 in. and 6-3/4 in.; probably Northern Thailand, possibly 14th/15th century, double handled ovoid form chalian jarlet, dark brown glaze, 5 in.

Provenance: Sotheby Parke-Bernet, New York, NY, May 23-24, 1974, lot 378 and 393, purchased for $110 and $60 (pear form vases, accompanied by copy of receipt and catalog pages); Honeychurch Antiques, Seattle, Washington, purchased August 23, 1982 for $125 (jarlet, accompanied by copy of receipt); Private Collection, Durham, North Carolina

Condition

surface dirt layer and accretion, scattered scratches and wear to edges; one pear form vase with small chips to lip, some scattered glaze anomalies across body, chips and losses to base, old tape residue
