Description
Pair of Chinese Blue and White 'Dragon' Dishes, Qianlong Mark and Period. Each dish elegantly potted with rounded sides rising from a short tapered foot to a delicately flared mouth rim, finely decorated to the interior with a five-clawed dragon enclosed within a single-line border, the exterior walls with further dragons, all reserved against stylized patterns of crashing waves in underglaze blue, the mouth embellished with double concentric borders on the interior and a frieze of florets on the exterior, the recessed base inscribed in underglaze blue with a six-character Qianlong mark. {Diameter: 6 7/8 inches (17.4 cm)}. Condition: One dish with tiny chips to the rim. The other with an area of restoration and chips to the rim. With two padded brocade boxes.
