Description
A LONG PICKLED OAK TOPPED AND CAST IRON BANQUET TABLE, REPURPOSED ELEMENTS, with a thick rectangular top composed of four long joined oak planks supported by a pair of whitewashed Victorian cast iron pedestal bases, each of narrow rectangular form and rounded ends above reticulated and elaborately cast waisted sides of coiling leafy vines, above large curling tipped "C" scrolls within blossoming stems amidst tapering ball blooms and raised on stylized "C" scrolled leafy rocaille feet, painted throughout in a thin whitewash. Height: 30" Length: 9' 8" Depth: 36 1/4" Provenance: Private Collection, Pearland, Texas.
Condition
The heavy oak top is nicely sanded and waxed with a relatively smooth (splinter free if left as is) surface but has dings, scratches, old cracks, and other imperfections found on old repurposed wood. The associated pair of Victorian cast iron pedestal bases are heavy, sturdy, nicely cast, and in good shape with some expected small patches of light surface rust scattered about, but are in good restored condition and covered with a thin whitewash.?
