A GROUP OF TWO 18TH CENTURY MAPS OF THE AMERICAS, LONDON AND PARIS, 1736-1780, two hand-colored engravings on paper, comprising, "FLORIDA Called by ye French LOUISIANA," after works by Herman Moll (1654-1732), cartographer, from Atlas Minor, published by Thos. Bowles and John Bowles, circa 1736, London, attributed as a third edition, showing coastline of the gulf of Mexico, the silver mines of Coahuila, indigenous and explorer routes, rivers including falls, the old 1663 Charles the II Florida/Carolina territory border, and predates the establishment of New Orleans as a city, plate 54, 8 1/2" x 11 1/4"; and "LE NOUVEAU MÉXIQUE, AVEC LA PARTIE SEPTENTRIONALE DE L'ANCIEN OU DE LA NOUVELLE ESPAGNE.," from, Atlas de Toutes les Parties Connues du Globe Terrestre, Dressé pour l'Histoire Philosophique et Politique des Établissements et du Commerce des Européens dans les Deux Indes by historian Guillaume Thomas Raynal (1713-1796), published by Rigobert Bonne (1727-1794), Ingénieur - Hydrographe de la Marine, Royal Cartographer to France, circa 1780, Paris, showing Spanish Louisiana, naming Texas, various missions, rivers, mountain ranges, New Orleans, and parts of the Gulf of Mexico, tome VI, book X, plate no. 28, plate prepared by Gaspard André, sculp., 9 1/4" x 13 1/2".
