A BOEHM LIMITED "SACRED IBIS" PORCELAIN SCULPTURE, SIGNED, NO. 81, 1971, modeled after the sacred bird often found in ancient Egyptian tombs with verdis gris enameled head and neck on a gilt body resting on verdis gris enameled legs and talons, in a recumbent position and verso black printed/hand-inscribed horse head over shield centering "LIMITED," above a feather quill enclosing "Edward Marshall Boehm / Sacred / Ibis / Tc 19 / MADE IN U.S.A. / Number 81?Year 1971," fitted on original rectangular black enameled porcelain base. Height: 7" Width: 10" Depth: 4 1/2"? Note: The Sacred Ibis bird is associated with the Egyptian god Thoth who had the body of a man and the head of the Ibis. He was the patron deity for the scribes of Egypt who kept records for the administration of the government and religious organizations.? ??
