**First Time At Auction**
Pre-Columbian, Colombia/Ecuador border, Narino/Capuli Complex, ca. 850 to 1500 CE. An impressive pottery whistle presenting with the form of a figure's torso at the top with a tubular shaft and tapered mouthpiece. The ancient figure is shown with both arms bent at the elbows and hands on his chest below a broad collar necklace. His visage features closed eyes, a prominent, triangular nose, and a straight, slightly open mouth, all flanked by a pair of stylized ears and topped with a helmet-like headdress. The figure's incised navel serves as the whistle's blow hole and a flared motif is featured behind his head. Please note that Lucite stand is for photography purposes only. Size: 6" L x 1.125" W x 1.625" H (15.2 cm x 2.9 cm x 4.1 cm)
This piece has been tested using thermoluminescence (TL) analysis and has been found to be ancient and of the period stated. A full report will accompany purchase.

Condition
No longer functions. TL holes on base. Chip to nose and periphery of base. Some nicks, scratches, and abrasions throughout, commensurate with age. Otherwise, excellent with lovely earthen and manganese deposits.
