Guzman's proposal for an alternative to the potential chaos of the immediate secularization of California. The statistical table, dated April 29, 1833, presents a demographics of Alta California by the four jurisdictions (San Francisco, Monterey, Santa Barbara, and San Diego), including census of population by gender and adults and children. The population of San Francisco presidio at the time was 371 (and 5,610 cows). Also enumerated are types of livestock, such as cattle, horses, and sheep. Cultivated areas are set out, with agricultural crops, including corn, wheat, beans, etc. Wagner lists this pamphlet among his "20 Rarest". Cowan II, p 154; Graff 1696; Holliday 464; Palau 111800; Zamorano Select 37.
