Folding Poul Hundevad, PH43 stool 'Goldhøj', Denmark, 1960s.This is a rare model that is made of solid African wenge and high quality cinnamon colored suede leather. The inspiration for this design was drawn from oldest preserved piece of furniture in Scandinavia. That of a folding chair that can be viewed at the National Museum in Copenhagen, that was found in the burial mound at Vamdrup. That piece dates from approximately 1300 BC. Poul Hundevad (1917-2011) was trained as a carpenter and for a short period owned his own cabinet making company. Hundavad is known for designing furniture with historical references. Such as the burial stools mentioned but he also made pieces that are inspired on ancient designs of the Egyptian's thrones and chairs, 13" H x 16" W x 19" D.
