20 -8 x 10 prints in a hard-bound box titled “Pictorial Photography.” Customers who came to Mortensen’s studio in Laguna Beach California would look through a sample book and select their favorite subjects that would then be printed. The prints would mostly be made by assistants. This group was evidently printed by Mortensen himself, who wrote books and taught classes in photographic process. This is evidenced by the care taken and high quality results. Each is either signed or titled and signed in Mortensen's unique and recognizable handwriting.

Mortensen expert Stephen Romano has said that several of these are very rare in this format, and most are the best portfolio prints of these subjects he has seen.
